OFFENDER NICHOLAS ROSSI FACES NEW RAPE CHARGES AFTER DNA LINK
Rossi, a man accused of faking his identity and accused of multiple rapes, faces serious charges after his DNA was linked to a second alleged victim in Utah.He was originally from Rhode Island but fled to the UK, where he built a false persona as Arthur Knight, an Irish orphan living in Glasgow.
He was deported back to the US this year.
The court recently revealed that Rossi is accused of raping a woman aged 26 in Salt Lake County in 2008.
Police also indicated that his DNA matched a second case from the same year involving a 21-year-old woman, and he is suspected of several other attacks.
Rossi was detained in Scotland in 2021 and refused to admit guilt, claiming mistaken identity.
At his recent court appearance, Rossi was brought in wearing prison garb and handcuffs, with an oxygen mask, while his alleged victim did not testify but submitted a statement.
The judge indicated probable cause that Rossi committed the offence of rape.
An officer from Orem Police confirmed that DNA retesting matched Rossi's.
He is scheduled for a bail hearing in October.
Previously, Rossi was convicted of sexually assaulting a college student in Ohio in 2008, where he reportedly molested her against a wall.
Rossi built a complex false identity to evade arrest and was judged by an Edinburgh court to be a fantasist, leading to his deportation to face the rape charges.
