TEENAGER JAILED FOR RAPE

A 19-year-old individual was sentenced to a 14-year prison term on July 30 after being found guilty of multiple sexual crimes against children, including rape.
The crimes occurred on March 19, 2018, when Nicholas Bell, residing on Wyndham Row in Broughton Moor, Maryport, was convicted of several charges: one count of rape, six counts of encouraging a child to partake in sexual acts, one count of sexual assault by penetration, one count of possessing a bladed weapon, and a count of common assault.
At the time of these offenses, Bell was only 17 years old.
During police questioning, he denied all accusations; however, following a trial, he was convicted of a total of 12 charges.
Bell received a final extended sentence of 14 years, which includes a nine-year custodial period and an additional five-year extended license period.
