EARLSTON MAN FOUND WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN DUNBAR
A BORDERS man who was caught with a collection of indecent images of children on his computer has been placed on the sex offenders register.Nicholas Adams was found to be in possession of 41 images depicting the sexual abuse of children when police officers raided his former home on Dunbar High Street in October 2024.
Adams, 48, was arrested and charged, and he pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on February 24.
He returned to the dock for sentencing on Tuesday, March 24, where his solicitor Dan Cameron said that the amount of images was at the lower end and his client had taken “full responsibility” for his offending.
The lawyer added that Adams was attempting to gain employment in the hospitality industry.
Sheriff Matthew Auchincloss sentenced Adams, currently of East Morriston, Earlston, to an alternative to custody and placed him on a community payback order.
He will be supervised by the social work department for two years and must carry out 182 hours of unpaid work in the community.
Adams will also be on the sex offenders register for two years and a conduct requirement states he will be banned from being in the company of anyone under the age of 18 apart from encounters during “everyday life”.
The sheriff also said that his name would be forwarded to Scottish ministers for inclusion on the list of those banned from working with children or vulnerable adults.
