WREXHAM MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL ATTACK ON EX-GIRLFRIEND
A criminal has been sentenced to prison following a drunken assault that resulted in his former girlfriend's face being stained with blood.Nial Ferry, residing on Northgate Street in Chester, appeared before Mold Crown Court on Thursday, June 12.
The 23-year-old had already admitted to committing one charge of actual bodily harm and two counts of assaulting law enforcement officers.
These incidents occurred on Wednesday, May 21, at a residence on Davies Court in Wrexham, where police responded to shouting coming from inside.
Officers discovered the victim, Harley Fowles, with blood covering her face and found Ferry with blood on his hands and bloodstains at the scene.
When detained, Ferry became aggressive, kicking at officers, attempting to headbutt one, threatening to bite, and using homophobic language.
Court reports revealed that Ferry had been arguing on the phone with a friend before the incident, during which Miss Fowles saw him become increasingly violent, grabbing her by the hair and threatening her life by drowning her.
He struck her with a shoe, causing her nose to break and making her scream for help.
Upon police arrival, Ferry tried to wipe the blood off her face and claimed an intruder was responsible for the altercation.
At the time, Ferry was serving a suspended sentence.
Miss Fowles shared that their relationship had deteriorated due to Ferry’s alcohol consumption and violence, leaving her feeling frightened for her safety.
Defense attorney Euros Jones stated Ferry had no previous domestic abuse convictions but had experienced and witnessed violence himself.
He expressed remorse and noted alcohol impairment as a contributing factor.
Judge Nicola Saffman sentenced Ferry to 14 months in prison and issued a restraining order to prevent him from contacting Miss Fowles.
