NORTH EAST MAN JAILED FOR STALKING EX-PARTNER WITH TRACKING DEVICE
Neil Bell, 61, of The Riding, Kenton, was convicted of stalking his former partner.He fitted a tracking device to her car to monitor her movements.
The couple had been in a relationship for seven years, but after they fell out during a holiday in Greece, she had to seek help from the police and the British embassy to retrieve her passport and belongings.
Bell continued to try to contact her, and an altercation ensued in which he indirectly threatened her son and verbally abused her at her home.
Bell, who has no previous convictions, pleaded guilty to stalking causing fear of violence and threatening another with a blade.
He was sentenced to two years and three months in prison and was also handed a five-year restraining order.
