A pair of child abusers received a combined prison term of 59 years after subjecting a baby to horrific sexual and sadistic physical abuse.

Nathan Walker, aged 27 from Droitwich, and his partner Bethany Marsden-Berry of Dines Green, Worcester, appeared in Worcester Crown Court where they were convicted of multiple serious charges.

These included causing grievous bodily harm with intent to a child under 13, two counts of cruelty to a person under 13, two counts of sexual assault by penetration of a child under 13, and inflicting grievous bodily harm on a child under 13.

The court was informed that the individuals systematically abused the infant over an extended period, inflicting brutal violence and causing numerous injuries.

Among the injuries was an anal tear believed to have resulted from one or both defendants inserting a body part or object into the baby's rectum.

The abuse endured by the child was described as vile and incomprehensible, with the attacks being beyond understanding given the child's defenseless state.

Despite suffering injuries that threatened the child's life, the baby survived.

Sentences were handed down as follows: Bethany Marsden-Berry received a total of 27 years, but since her individual sentences were concurrent, her effective prison time was 16 years.

Nathan Walker was sentenced to 32 years, with his sentence also served concurrently, resulting in a total of 25 years in prison.

Both individuals are also subject to a 25-year sexual harm prevention order and are required to register as sex offenders for life.
