THUG WHO TWICE STRANGLED EX-GIRLFRIEND LEAVES HER WITH BLOOD CLOT IN EYE JAILED FOR OVER THREE YEARS
A VICIOUS thug who twice strangled his ex-girlfriend, leaving her thinking she was going to die, has been jailed for more than three years.Sean Whiting, of Redden Court Road, Romford, Essex, repeatedly attacked his ex at her Droitwich home, leaving her with a blood clot in her eye and continuing night terrors as she battles to rebuild her life after years of abuse, a court heard.
The 38-year-old was jailed for a total of three years and two months when he appeared before Worcester Crown Court sitting at Redditch on Friday (November 28) afternoon.
Whiting, wearing a padded jumper and a silver chain round his neck, was on a live link to the court from HMP Hewell.
Whiting was called out by Judge Nicolas Cartwright when he made a dig at his victim.
Addressing Whiting directly, Judge Cartwright told him the comment indicated "you have no contrition, no real appreciation for what you have done".
Judge Cartwright also said that despite Whiting sending a letter in to the court he told him "you did let your guard slip just a few moments ago".
Whiting was being sentenced after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing to strangling the woman in November 2023 and December 2023.
He also admitted one charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and four counts of breaching a restraining order.
The court had heard that Whiting had punched his victim, backhanded her, pushed her into a bush, held a knife above her head and had sat on her putting his hands around her neck strangling her until she couldn't talk or breathe.
Reading her victim impact statement to the court, the woman said: "I thought Sean would be responsible for my death.
He would strangle me, his eyes would be black.
I relive it in night terrors and flashbacks.
I've a clot in my eye after he strangled me.
He still has his life...
I carry this darkness forever.
Sean is violent, possessive and a narcissist." Jailing Whiting, Judge Cartwright also issued a 12-year restraining order meaning he is not allowed to contact the woman in any way.
