NORTH YORKSHIRE MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON TEENAGER
Nathan Thomas McCracken, aged 29, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a teenage girl in a rural part of North Yorkshire. The incident took place on July 9, 2022, when McCracken drove past the 17-year-old girl riding her horse between Malton and York.
He then turned his vehicle around, lowered the window, and engaged her in conversation.
Subsequently, McCracken left his car and subjected her to a sexual assault, while also repeatedly asking her not to inform the police.
The young woman reported the assault, which led to McCracken being identified and detained by authorities.
During their investigation, police searched his residence and uncovered evidence that he had breached a sexual harm prevention order issued due to prior offenses.
They found an unmentioned laptop and noted he was using Snapchat under a pseudonym to hide his identity—both actions that violated the court order.
McCracken admitted to one count of sexual assault and two violations of the restraint order.
He was sentenced at York Crown Court to a prison term of four years and seven months.
Detective Constable Philip Freebrey commented that McCracken's behavior was predatory, as he approached the victim alone in an isolated area before attacking her.
His attempts to threaten her into silence revealed his awareness of his misconduct, and his disregard for court-imposed restrictions increased his liability.
