MOBILE PHONE VOYEUR NATHAN SHAW BUSTED AGAIN FILMING UP WOMEN'S CLOTHES
Voyeur Nathan Shaw, 28, from Kings Road in Ashton, was caught following unsuspecting female shoppers at an Asda supermarket and using his mobile phone to film up their clothing. On a day in July 2015, a victim revealed that she was left "paranoid" and "ashamed" after Shaw had filmed her without her consent.
Shaw had been convicted the previous year of a similar offence involving a woman at a Metrolink tram stop, for which he received a sentence of 200 hours of unpaid work, of which 71 hours remained.
For his latest offence at the Eastlands store on June 5, he was sentenced to attend a three-year sex offender’s treatment program and a 60-day rehabilitation program.
The incident involved him filming up women's clothing, and his phone contained eleven videos, ten of which were taken inside the store.
Four of these videos showed "private areas" of women.
A woman, aged 26, who was wearing short shorts, paid £800 in compensation after Shaw was caught very close behind her, causing her to feel "paranoid".
Deputy District Judge Birrell commented that a custodial sentence was necessary, expressing concerns that Shaw would pose a high risk to women if released.
Security staff became suspicious about Shaw’s behaviour, and when his phone was checked, it was found to contain videos of women, including one of the victim who felt degraded and ashamed.
Shaw accepted the seriousness of his actions, though he claimed he had not taken the pictures for sexual gratification, instead stating he watched videos out of emotional stress related to family issues.
He pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay court charges, prosecution costs, and a victim surcharge.
