Nathan Lynch, accused of violently assaulting his partner, fractured her nose and strangled her with such force that her voice was affected.

The incident followed his suspicion that she was seeing another man during a visit to a friend.

Despite his actions, Warwick Crown Court heard that his victim, personal trainer Odette Lavelle, continued to support Lynch even after discovering he had previously assaulted an ex-partner.

The 23-year-old from The Greenfield, Stoke Aldermoor, Coventry, received a 28-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to causing grievous bodily harm.

Prosecutor Graeme Simpson explained that Miss Lavelle, 28, met Lynch in January 2019.

Within days, he moved into her home where she lived with her young son.

Despite learning he had been prosecuted for assaulting his former partner, she remained loyal, visiting him in jail while he served a 16-month sentence.

After his release, Lynch moved back in with her.

Tensions escalated on January 15, when she went out for the evening to see a friend.

The next morning, he accused her of infidelity, grabbing her around the neck and pushing her onto the bed, where he continued to squeeze her throat for about a minute.

She managed to escape, running out of the house, but shortly afterward returned for her son.

Lynch then punched her in the face, knocking her to the floor, before straddling her and continuing to punch her, resulting in a displaced fracture of her nose.

Miss Lavelle received treatment at University Hospital, where her nose was reset under anaesthesia.

She also suffered swelling around her right eye, a lump at the back of her head, and her voice was affected due to throat lesions caused by strangulation, according to Mr Simpson.
