NATHAN CORNS FROM MALVERN SENTENCED FOR RAPE IN HEREFORD

In a case that has shocked the local community, Nathan Corns, a resident of Elgar Avenue in Malvern, was sentenced to a substantial prison term after being found guilty of a heinous sexual assault. The incident took place in February 2012, and the court proceedings culminated in a verdict that reflects the severity of the crime committed.

According to court reports, Corns had been staying at the victim’s residence that night. The woman, who knew Corns personally, had kindly offered him a place to stay after he claimed to have nowhere else to go. Unbeknownst to her, this act of kindness would turn into a nightmare.

While she was asleep, Corns entered her bedroom and threatened her with a knife, demanding compliance with his demands. The assault was both violent and terrifying, leaving the victim deeply traumatized. The woman immediately reported the incident to the police, and law enforcement officers responded swiftly. Within a few hours, Corns was arrested and taken into custody.

Detective Inspector Richard Rees commented on the case, emphasizing the gravity of the offense and the importance of the sentence handed down. He stated, “The victim — a mature woman who felt safe in her own home — had offered Corns food and shelter for the night, and he repaid her kindness by subjecting her to a terrifying and brutal ordeal.”

He further added, “This is a very satisfactory result, which has removed a high-risk and dangerous offender from society for a considerable amount of time. I know the victim feels a lot safer because of this sentence, and that Corns will be monitored for the rest of his life upon his release.”

Inspector Rees also praised the victim’s bravery, noting that her quick reporting of the crime allowed for a swift arrest. “Despite the traumatic circumstances, the victim’s courage in coming forward has been commendable,” he said. “Violent crimes like this are thankfully rare in South Worcestershire, but I hope this case encourages other victims of sexual abuse to come forward, knowing that their complaints will be thoroughly investigated and offenders brought to justice.”

As a result of the court’s decision, Nathan Corns will serve a prison sentence of ten and a half years, followed by a lifetime license upon his release, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to prevent further harm.
