STEVEN FORD FROM MALVERN ESCAPES JAIL AFTER RAPE OF 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL AND PREGNANCY
In a case that has shocked the community of Malvern, Steven Ford, a young man aged 18 from Oak Crescent, was involved in a highly disturbing incident involving a minor.The events date back to the summer of 2018, when Ford engaged in sexual activity with a girl who was only 12 years old at the time.
The girl, whose identity remains protected by legal restrictions, later became pregnant as a result of this encounter.
In November 2006, Ford appeared before Worcester Crown Court to face charges related to this serious offense.
During the proceedings, Ford pleaded guilty to the charges, which included the rape of a minor and the resulting pregnancy.
The court was informed that Ford believed the girl was 15 years old and claimed that their sexual activity was consensual.
However, the victim testified that she had discussed her age with Ford, indicating her awareness of her youth at the time.
The court heard that the girl, now 13 years old, had given birth earlier that year to a baby girl.
A photograph of her during her pregnancy was presented to the judge at the start of the trial in September, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
The psychological assessment of Ford revealed that he had borderline intelligence and a personality disorder, factors that the court considered during sentencing.
His defense attorney, Tim Sapwell, argued that Ford’s level of understanding was significantly different from that of other young men, stating, “His level of understanding is markedly different from other young men.
He is unable to follow what has gone on in court.” Despite the severity of the crimes, Ford was not sentenced to imprisonment.
Instead, he was given a supervision order for three years and was required to register as a sex offender for the next five years.
The decision has sparked debate and concern within the Malvern community, as residents grapple with the implications of the court’s ruling and the ongoing safety of minors in the area.
