HECKMONDWIKE MAN FINED AFTER DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INCIDENT
A man named Nasar Khan, aged 39, was involved in an incident at his home in Church Lane, Heckmondwike, on December 19.According to reports, he spat at and hit his wife during a heated argument over another woman.
The victim felt so fearful of further violence that she instructed a friend to call the police if she did not hear from her within half an hour.
The court was told that police had previously been called to the couple's residence twice, but the victim chose not to press charges at those times.
Nasar Khan admitted to assault by beating during his appearance at Kirklees Magistrates' Court.
The Magistrates fined him £120, with additional court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £32.
The incident was described as an act of frustration as their argument spiraled out of control, with Khan stating that he was initially slapped by his wife and out of rage responded by spitting at her.
He fully acknowledged that his behavior was inappropriate and accepted that it was not the proper way to deal with conflicts.
The court also noted that his wife did not agree that she was the first to strike him.
Nasar Khan is the father of two children and will need to pay the fines and surcharges imposed by the court.
