HECKMONDWIKE CHILD RAPIST JAILED FOR QUARTER OF A CENTURY
A DANGEROUS child rapist has been jailed for a quarter of a century after committing a series of serious sexual offences against children.
Michael Abass, 48, of Heckmondwike was sentenced to 25 years behind bars at Newcastle Crown Court today.
The 48-year-old was found guilty of 16 offences against multiple victims.
DC Yvonne Brear, of Kirklees Police, described the offences as some of the worst she has seen.
She stated, “The monstrous offences committed by Michael Abass against his victims are quite simply some of the worst I have seen.
She also expressed disbelief about his actions, saying, “Frankly it is hard to comprehend how anyone could act in this way, and treat young children as nothing more than objects for their gratification.
She highlighted the bravery of the victims for reporting and supporting the prosecution despite their ordeal.
As part of his sentence, Abass will have to sign the sex offenders register for life upon his release and was made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
