DRUNK MAN FORCIBLY ENTERS EX'S HOME AND SHOUTS AT HER IN TERRIFYING ATTACK
The man, Mark Uttley, aged 29, forcibly entered his ex-partner's home and assaulted her after her new boyfriend goaded him about spending time with his child.Uttley found the new partner inside the house and, reportedly losing his temper, called her a "s**g" while trying to push her and her sister out of the way to reach him.
He pushed the victim backwards onto the stairs and shouted: "Let me get up the f******g stairs" as well as calling her a "s**g." The incident occurred at around 10 pm on November 4 when the victim was at her home in Cleckheaton with her sister and new boyfriend.
She saw Uttley, who appeared drunk, at the door, and he began reaching through the door to try to get inside.
Despite their efforts to stop him, he forced his way in, continuing his assault and pushing them backwards.
Magistrates heard that Uttley's behaviour caused fear of violence, and he admitted to the charges of common assault.
He left the house after the incident, and police were called.
He claimed to have drunk six pints that evening but wasn't particularly drunk and justified his actions by saying he was upset after splitting from the victim and after arguments involving threats from her new partner.
Uttley expressed regret for his behaviour, acknowledging it was inappropriate, and accepted that his drunken demeanour would have contributed to the fear of violence.
He was sentenced to a nine-month community order with 15 days of rehabilitation activities and a two-year restraining order banning contact with his ex and from being within 100 metres of her property.
Additionally, he was ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs and £85 victim surcharge.
