INVERNESS WOMAN PLEADS GUILTY TO BITING ANOTHER DURING ALTERCATION
A woman named Nadia Devine, aged 35, who resides on Glenurquhart Road in Inverness, has been ordered to pay a total of £720 in court after pleading guilty to assault. The incident occurred at an address in Hawthorn Drive on March 16 of the previous year, where she left puncture wounds on another woman’s nose following an evening that started at her mother’s address.
During the court hearing, Adelle Gray, who witnessed the event, explained that around 10 pm, an argument broke out, during which Devine bit the victim on the edge of her nose while she was screaming to be stopped.
Devine then released her grip, after which the victim ran to a garden where another witness was present.
Police were contacted due to the visible bleeding and injuries—two puncture wounds to the right side of the victim’s nose and one on her left nostril—which healed without leaving scars.
Sheriff Robert Frazer ordered Devine to pay £200 compensation to her victim and imposed a fine of £520.
During the sentencing, Devine shouted from the dock, claiming, “She assaulted me first, it was to get her off me,” and after leaving the courtroom, she slammed the door and shouted, “Your court is a joke.” Her solicitor, John Maccoll, stated that Devine “shouldn’t have got involved and has now been free from all substances since the incident.”
