MUHEBULLAH (MOBEI) DADWAL SENTENCED IN COVENTRY FOR BRUTAL RAPE AND KIDNAPPING
Muhebullah (Mobei) Dadwal, a man aged 33, has been handed a severe prison sentence of 20 years following his conviction for a series of heinous crimes that included kidnapping and multiple acts of sexual assault. The court's verdict was based on overwhelming evidence that painted a disturbing picture of his violent actions in Coventry and Bedworth.According to court records, Dadwal was found guilty of raping his former partner at knifepoint during an incident in Bedworth in November 2019. The events unfolded after Dadwal returned home intoxicated and under the influence of cocaine, following a heated argument with his 19-year-old partner. During this confrontation, he assaulted her physically, pressed a knife to her throat, and forcibly raped her. In his defense, Dadwal claimed that the act was not rape because she was his girlfriend, a statement that the court rejected as legally and morally unfounded.
Further evidence revealed that Dadwal confiscated his victim’s phone and put it on airplane mode to prevent her from seeking help or alerting authorities. The following day, he took her to the Coventry Hill Hotel, where he continued his assault, beating her and raping her again at knifepoint. Despite the threats to her life and her overwhelming fear of retaliation, the victim managed to summon the courage to contact the police after the incident.
Law enforcement officials launched a thorough investigation, which included analyzing CCTV footage that confirmed Dadwal’s involvement in the kidnapping and assaults. His arrest was made on 3 March 2020, following an anonymous tip that led authorities directly to his location. During the trial, Dadwal maintained his innocence, denying all charges. However, the evidence against him, particularly the CCTV footage, was compelling enough to secure a conviction for two rapes at knifepoint, assault, kidnapping, and criminal damage.
The court sentenced Dadwal to 15 years in prison, with an additional five years on extended licence. He was also registered as a sex offender for life and was subjected to an indefinite restraining order to protect the victim from further contact. The sentencing reflected the gravity of his crimes and the need for ongoing protection for the victim.
In addition to Dadwal’s sentencing, his accomplice in the kidnapping, Constantin Stan, a 31-year-old resident of Coventry, was convicted of kidnapping and received a sentence of two years and three months in prison. Stan was also subjected to an indefinite restraining order. Furthermore, Wahidullah Dadwal, the brother of Muhebullah, pleaded guilty to witness intimidation after offering money to the victim in an attempt to persuade her to drop the charges. Wahidullah, aged 30, was sentenced to 12 months in prison and was also given an indefinite restraining order.
Detective Constable Jonathan Barker highlighted the bravery of the victim, emphasizing her courage in coming forward despite the trauma she endured. He expressed hope that her actions would inspire others to report similar crimes. The investigation and subsequent prosecution were praised by the judge at Warwick Crown Court, who commended the police for their diligent work in bringing the offenders to justice and ensuring the safety of the community.
