MAN CONVICTED OF SEXUAL ASSAULT
The statement from the investigating officer reflects the trust placed in law enforcement by the women involved, which has helped ensure the offender cannot re-offend.The officer recounted the case against Muhammad Shahzad, who was convicted of sexual assault after a jury at Chelmsford Crown Court reached a unanimous decision in just two hours on 3 March.
Shahzad, 32 years old from Shortcroft Road in Dagenham, assaulted two women on 13 February the previous year, falsely claiming to be offering training as a masseuse.
The assaults were reported on the same day, prompting police to act swiftly.
Shahzad was located and arrested two days later.
Although he denied the allegations during police interviews, the case against him was strong enough for a quick conviction.
His sentencing is scheduled for 21 May at the same court.
