KARA ALEXANDER DROWNS TWO YOUNG BOYS IN DAGENHAM AND LEAVES THEM IN BED, JAILED FOR LIFE

In a tragic and heartbreaking case that has shocked the community of Dagenham, Kara Alexander, aged 47, has been sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty of the brutal murder of her two young sons, Elijah and Marley Thomas. The devastating events unfolded in December 2022, when Alexander drowned her two-year-old Elijah and five-year-old Marley in their family home.

According to reports, the children were drowned in the bath, and after their deaths, Alexander dressed them in their pajamas and placed them in bed, as if they were sleeping. The post-mortem examinations confirmed that the children died as a result of drowning or suffocation, with authorities ruling out any accidental causes. The court heard that the circumstances surrounding their deaths were far from accidental, despite Alexander’s claims otherwise.

During the trial at Kingston Crown Court, Alexander insisted that the children’s deaths were accidental. She stated that she had placed them in the bath and had fallen asleep, which led to their drowning. However, prosecutors presented evidence indicating that due to the ages of the boys, an accidental drowning was highly unlikely. The evidence pointed to the conclusion that Alexander had intervened in some way, causing the children to drown intentionally or through neglect.

The tragic sequence of events was set into motion over a weekend when the children’s father, concerned about the lack of response to his messages and calls, decided to visit the family home in Dagenham. Upon arriving, he was told by Alexander that the children were sleeping upstairs. Concerned, he went upstairs himself and was devastated to find his sons lying lifeless on their shared bed, dressed in their pajamas, in the lower bunk. The sight was heartbreaking, and he immediately ran out of the house to alert emergency services.

As he was making his way downstairs, Alexander fled the scene, running through neighboring gardens and into another street in an apparent attempt to escape. Emergency responders arrived promptly but were unable to revive Elijah and Marley, who had been dead for several hours by the time help arrived. A police manhunt was launched immediately, and officers tracked down Alexander approximately an hour later in the vicinity of Dagenham.

During the court proceedings, Alexander denied the murder charges, maintaining that the children drowned accidentally while she was asleep. However, the prosecution’s case was compelling, emphasizing that the ages of the boys made accidental drowning improbable. The evidence suggested that Alexander’s actions led to their deaths, and the only reasonable explanation was that she had caused or allowed the children to drown.

Justice Bennathan delivered the verdict, sentencing Kara Alexander to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years and 252 days. The Crown Prosecution Service, represented by Samantha Yelland, expressed their condolences to the family and friends of Elijah and Marley. She stated, “Our thoughts remain with Elijah and Marley’s family and friends who have been completely devastated by their loss. It is unimaginable to think what those poor children went through in their final moments. It is a parent’s job to keep their children safe, and Kara Alexander not only failed in that duty but robbed them of their lives. I hope today’s verdict will provide the family with some closure, knowing that Alexander has been held accountable for their murders.”
