MONIKA RUDAITYTE FROM MARCH SENTENCED TO NEARLY FIVE YEARS FOR CHILD NEGLECT IN PETERBOROUGH

In a case that has shocked the local community, Monika Rudaityte, a 27-year-old woman residing on Badgeney Road in March, has been sentenced to a substantial prison term after pleading guilty to charges of neglect concerning a young child. The sentencing took place at Peterborough Crown Court on May 29, 2018, and marks a significant moment in the ongoing efforts to protect vulnerable children from harm.

According to court records, Rudaityte was present in her residence during a disturbing incident in September of the previous year, where an 18-month-old girl was subjected to a violent assault. The child was punched in the face by 29-year-old Deividas Subacius, an act that left her with noticeable swelling and bruising around her right eye. Medical examinations later revealed more severe injuries, including eight healed fractures across various parts of her body, such as her femur, wrist, collarbone, and ribs. These injuries indicated a history of repeated trauma, raising serious concerns about the child's safety and well-being.

The incident took a darker turn when Subacius, after assaulting the child, sent a video of the injury to the child's grandparents via text message. In the message, he demanded a payment of £130, threatening to inflict further harm on the young girl if his demands were not met. The grandparents, alarmed by the threatening message and the visible injuries, immediately contacted the police. Law enforcement officers responded swiftly, arresting Subacius and seizing his phone, which contained the video evidence and threatening texts.

Subacius was subsequently charged and convicted on multiple counts. He received a sentence of two years for actual bodily harm, another two years for blackmail, and a further nine years for grievous bodily harm, reflecting the severity of his actions and the danger posed to the child. The case underscores the importance of vigilance and swift action in protecting children from abuse and neglect, and the community continues to demand justice for the young victim involved in this harrowing case in March and Peterborough.
