MOHAMMED SIDDIQUE AND MOHAMMED WAQAR FROM BIRMINGHAM SENTENCED FOR ABUSING 10-YEAR-OLD BOY DURING MOSQUE LESSONS
In a recent court ruling, two educators associated with a mosque in Birmingham have been sentenced to serve one year in prison following their involvement in physically abusing a young boy during religious instruction sessions. The incident has raised serious concerns about safeguarding practices within religious institutions and the safety of children attending such facilities.
Mohammed Siddique, aged 60, and Mohammed Waqar, aged 24, both admitted to inflicting physical punishment on a 10-year-old boy.
The court heard that the teachers used a stick to hit the boy and also slapped him on multiple occasions.
These acts of violence were reportedly in response to the boy mispronouncing parts of the Quran during lessons.
The court condemned their actions, emphasizing that any form of unnecessary violence, especially towards children, is unacceptable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The court's decision also includes a ban on both teachers from engaging in any teaching activities in the future, aiming to prevent similar incidents from occurring again.
The case has brought to light ongoing concerns about the adequacy of safeguarding measures in religious settings, particularly in mosques, where children are often present for religious education.
The incident underscores the importance of strict oversight and proper safeguarding protocols to protect vulnerable children from harm in all community institutions.
