WORCESTER SEX PEST JAILED FOR BREACHING COURT ORDER AND TERRORIZING WOMEN
A notorious Worcester sex pest, Mohammed Ilyas, was sentenced to 18 months in jail after breaching a court order shortly after it was issued by a judge. The court heard that Ilyas had frightened two women by staring through their windows.
On the same day that a sexual offences prevention order was granted, Ilyas, age 30, was caught staring into a woman’s kitchen from her window.
The victim was so distressed that she took a vase to bed as a potential weapon.
Another neighbor was also targeted in a similar way, but Ilyas fled when confronted by a man.
He was arrested the same night and admitted to police that he had been waiting for a friend.
Previously, Ilyas had been involved in several other inappropriate and criminal behaviors: he exposed himself in a library to a middle-aged woman, peeped at women in a changing room at the baths, touched a woman’s bottom in a leisure centre jacuzzi, entered a woman’s bedroom by climbing onto her balcony, stared at students at Worcester College, performed a sex act in front of school pupils, and made sexual advances towards a probation officer.
It was noted that he was banned from attending sex therapy sessions because he inquired about other defendants’ crimes.
Despite this, he grinned throughout most of the hearing.
His solicitor pointed out that his breach of the order was his first and that his conduct, while worrying, did not constitute a further offense.
Nonetheless, the judge emphasized that his actions caused distress, fear, and upset to victims.
Since he had frequently violated court orders previously, the court considered an extended sentence but was limited by legal powers, and he was ultimately jailed for 18 months for breaching the order.
The judge also highlighted that Ilyas had been warned repeatedly about the consequences of disobeying his sexual offences prevention order, yet he continued to breach it.
