AFGHAN MAN JAILED FOR GROPING WOMAN

A man who sexually assaulted a woman during an evening outing in Warrington town centre has received a custodial sentence.

Mohammed Esmati, originally from Afghanistan, appeared at Warrington Combined Court on Thursday, 19 March, where he was sentenced after being convicted of the sexual assault at a prior hearing.

He was sentenced to a year in prison and is required to register as a sex offender.

The incident occurred on 23 August 2025 when a woman was out in Warrington.

She was approached by Esmati outside the Reef nightclub at approximately 5:41am.

He forcibly hugged her, kissed her, and groped her under her clothing before she managed to break free.

A CCTV operator observed the assault in progress and promptly notified police.

Officers arrived at the scene and detained Esmati as he was attempting to leave the area.
