NOTTINGHAM MAN JAILED FOR STALKING, THREATS AND POSSESSION OF WEAPONS
A father-of-one sent his partner a series of chilling messages in a drunken, jealous rage, repeating over and over that he was going to chop her up and kill her.Mitchell Langon sent photographs of a knife and a knuckle duster to the victim during a single afternoon.
The 43-year-old, of Bilborough, bombarded her with phone calls before barricading himself in his home when the police went to arrest him, leaving officers no option but to Taser him.
All of the offences took place while he was the subject of a suspended sentence for stamping on the same victim on an earlier occasion.
Langon pleaded guilty to stalking, assaulting an emergency worker and possession of the knife and knuckle duster.
He also admitted the offences put him in breach of his suspended sentence.
The defendant has 12 previous convictions for 23 offences.
He was sentenced to two years and nine months at Nottingham Crown Court.
Judge Steven Coupland noted that although it was over an afternoon, Langon bombarded his partner with the worst messages, threatened to kill her, her friends, her animals, and her children would be 'left without a mother.' He sent a message saying he would ‘do life for her’, and also sent images of a knife and knuckle duster with threatening messages like ‘you’re dead, I’m coming’ and ‘trust me, you are dead’.
When police went to arrest him at her address, Langon refused entry, and was Tasered when he appeared to hold an object ready to throw.
The victim expressed her fear for her and her children's lives, saying she would no longer be alive if she had been there that day.
Lauren Fisher, mitigating, stated that Langon accepts responsibility for possessing the knife and knuckle duster, and recognizes that much of his suspended sentence will be activated and the new sentence will be custody.
He has a significant drinking problem and has a 10-year-old son he intends to stay involved with, and he has said he will no longer be involved with the victim.
