ALEX WAPLINGTON BILBOROUGH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY SENTENCE REDUCED BY COURT OF APPEAL
In October 2017, a disturbing case involving a Nottingham man named Alex Waplington has garnered significant attention from the judicial system.Waplington, a 27-year-old resident of Baythorn Road in the Bilborough area, was found to possess an alarming collection of child abuse images on his personal computer equipment.
The authorities uncovered nearly 4,500 illicit images, including over 1,000 classified in the most obscene category, during a police search of his home in September of the previous year.
These images depicted children, some under the age of five, subjected to horrific acts of abuse.
Shockingly, the collection also contained videos and images that included animals, further emphasizing the disturbing nature of the material Waplington had stored.
The severity of the content led to his initial conviction and sentencing at Nottingham Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to possessing indecent and prohibited images of children.
In March, he was sentenced to a three-year prison term for his crimes.
However, the case took a significant turn when the matter was brought before the Court of Appeal.
Today, the judges reviewed the original sentence and decided to reduce it to two years.
