MILAN GATYAS SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN MARGATE
In a harrowing case that has shocked the community of Margate, Milan Gatyas, aged 35, has been sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty of a series of heinous crimes involving the sexual exploitation of three innocent children.The court heard that Gatyas, a resident of Dane Road in Margate, had committed these acts with a level of depravity that prompted the judge to describe his actions as posing a 'grave' and ongoing threat to children in the future.
Gatyas was convicted of 25 child sex offences, which only came to light in March following a complaint from the father of one of the victims.
The investigation revealed that the perpetrator had engaged in disturbing activities involving minors, including a young girl who was just two years old.
It was disclosed during the trial that Gatyas had paid a young girl £2 to pose for photographs, an act that was part of his broader pattern of abuse.
Another victim recounted how Gatyas had groomed her by offering sweets in exchange for her cooperation, further illustrating the manipulative tactics he employed.
The court was informed that Gatyas initially denied taking any photographs of the children.
However, authorities seized his mobile phone, which was subsequently subjected to forensic analysis.
The investigation uncovered 85 disturbing images, some of which were encrypted.
Gatyas claimed ignorance of the encryption code, asserting he did not know how to access the files.
Despite his claims, experts managed to recover the images, which ranged up to Level Four in terms of depravity, with Level Five being the most extreme.
Prosecutor Charlotte Newell detailed the extent of the evidence, emphasizing the severity of the crimes and the impact on the victims.
The court was also told that Gatyas had attempted to dismiss the sexual nature of his activities, a claim that was dismissed as 'absolute rubbish' by Judge Adele Williams.
The judge condemned his actions, stating, 'Your crimes are so grave they plainly call for a denunciatory element to reflect public abhorrence which is only available in a sentence of life imprisonment.' During the sentencing hearing, Gatyas’s defense argued that he wanted to express remorse for his actions, which he described as 'insane.' However, Judge Williams was unpersuaded, condemning him for robbing the children of their innocence and causing long-term trauma.
She highlighted that Gatyas had shown no remorse or understanding of the psychological damage inflicted.
The judge also ordered that Gatyas be placed on the Sex Offender’s Register for life and imposed an indefinite Sexual Offences Prevention Order to prevent any future harm.
In her final remarks, Judge Williams emphasized the seriousness of the case, stating, 'You are in total denial but the only person you are deluding is yourself!' Concluding the proceedings, she sentenced Gatyas to life imprisonment, explicitly warning that he may never be released if he continues to pose a significant risk to children.
The community of Margate can now only hope that justice has been served and that measures are in place to protect others from this dangerous individual.
