EDINBURGH CARER STRUCK OFF FOR POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
A twisted Edinburgh carer has been struck off after being convicted of having indecent images of children.Following a hearing with the Scottish Social Services Council this week, Mike Forrester was removed from the register following his conviction at the city's sheriff court in February.
The regulator said between November 2, 2021, and December 13, 2021, Forrester was in possession of indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children.
The social care worker was also convicted of taking, permitting to be taken or making indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children at his address and elsewhere between November 2021 and December 13, 2021.
On June 10, 2022, when applying to the SSSC for registration on the part of the register for social care workers, Forrester failed to declare he has been charged in relation to both offences.
While registered as a social care worker between March and August 2023, Forrester also failed to reveal he was facing criminal proceedings and in doing so "acted dishonestly." The regulator said: "Your possession and processing of indecent images of children raises very serious concerns about your values and attitude.
Failing to declare serious criminal charges on your SSSC application and then failing to declare the subsequent criminal proceedings as a registered worker, was dishonest." The article states that Forrester's actions showed a serious disregard for processes designed to protect vulnerable people and indicated a lack of insight into the seriousness of his actions, raising current public protection concerns.
