TWO MEN CHARGED FOLLOWING THE RAPE OF A GIRL IN EASTBOURNE
In Eastbourne, two men have been formally charged following allegations of sexual assault against a teenage girl.The girl, aged 14, is receiving assistance from specialized officers to ensure her well-being.
Police responded to a report that the incident occurred at a local residence between 2:30 am and 7:00 am on Saturday, 23 May.
An investigation led to the arrest of a man aged 39 on 25 May.
After further inquiries, police detained a second man, aged 40, on 27 May.
Miguel Dasilva, 39, of Longland Road, Eastbourne, is a Portuguese citizen and faces charges including three counts of sexual activity involving penetration with a girl aged 13-15, engaging in non-penetrative sexual acts with someone in that age group, and using sexual communication with a minor.
He appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 27 May.
Adam Hendrick, aged 40 from Walton Close, Eastbourne, a British national, is charged with the rape of a girl aged 13-15 and four counts of sexual activity involving penetration with a girl aged 13-15.
His court appearance was at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 28 May.
The men are in custody and will next appear at Lewes Crown Court on 24 June.
Detective Inspector Steve Shimmons stated that Sussex Police prioritize efforts to combat violence targeting women and girls, and that they have been actively working to identify and apprehend suspects since the incident was reported.
