MAN JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
A man from Eastbourne has been imprisoned after being found guilty of 11 child sexual abuse offences.
John Simpson, aged 52 from Sheffield Park Way, Eastbourne, appeared at Lewes Crown Court on 13 November, where he received a sentence of nine and a half years in prison.
Simpson’s crimes date back to 2011, when he groomed and repeatedly assaulted a 13-year-old girl, convincing her they were in a normal relationship.
The abuse lasted for several months until the victim was able to break off contact with him.
The victim reported the abuse as an adult in 2021, and was supported during the police investigation by specialised officers.
Following the investigation, Simpson was charged with 13 counts of sexual activity with a minor and two counts of inciting a child to perform sexual acts.
During trial proceedings on 3 September 2025, he was convicted of nine counts of sexual activity with a minor and two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual acts, while he was acquitted of four similar charges.
He faces a nine-year and six-month prison sentence, lifetime registration as a sex offender, and an indefinite restraining order against the victim.
