FORMER SUSSEX POLICE OFFICER IN SEXUAL ASSAULT CASE: JURY UNDECIDED
A jury has failed to reach a verdict and has been discharged in the trial of a former police inspector who was accused of sexual assault.Former Sussex Police custody officer Mike Sinden, aged 36, from Hove, East Sussex, denies sexually assaulting a woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, after heavy drinking during a night out in Eastbourne in March 2022.
Mr Sinden alleges that he did not pin the woman to a wall in an alleyway nor sexually assault her, and also denies the charge of sexual assault by penetration.
The court has decided to discharge the jury following the inability to reach a verdict.
Mr Sinden is expected to appear in Lewes Crown Court during the week beginning 10 March.
The case remains unresolved as the jury was unable to come to a decision regarding the charges he faced.
