MAN JAILED FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST CHILD
A 44-year-old man from Eastbourne has been given a prison sentence after being convicted of multiple sexual offences involving a teenage girl.Jamie Vile received his sentence at Lewes Crown Court on Monday (18 May) following a verdict of guilty on six charges connected to the rape of and sexual acts with a female minor.
He was sentenced to serve 13 years in prison and will be subject to an ongoing Sexual Harm Prevention Order indefinitely.
The offences took place between 2023 and 2025, during which the victim was between 13 and 15 years old.
The case first emerged in August 2025 when Vile was arrested on August 10.
He was formally charged two days later and remanded in custody during an initial hearing at Brighton Magistrates’ Court.
Vile maintained his innocence, but the matter proceeded to an eight-day trial at Lewes Crown Court starting on 4 February 2026.
After deliberation, a jury found him guilty of six out of eleven counts on 24 February, including three counts of sexual activity with a child, an alternative count of sexual activity with a child, inciting a child to engage in sexual acts, and rape.
He was acquitted of three counts of rape, an alternative sexual activity charge, and one count involving a second victim.
The court heard Vile’s sentencing on Monday, 18 May.
