MAN WHO FILMED HIMSELF ON A SECRET PHONE APP RAPING AND SEXUALLY ASSAULTING A CHILD HAS BEEN JAILED
Michele Scappatacci was involved in sexually abusing a young girl and encouraging her to participate in sexual activities over nearly four years.Authorities initiated an investigation which uncovered that Scappatacci had assaulted the victim multiple times and had taken photographs during these incidents.
During a search of his phone, officials found a disguised app that looked like a calculator, secured with a PIN.
Inside, they discovered 888 indecent images and videos, including content of Scappatacci committing sexual offenses.
After his arrest and consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, he faced charges comprising three counts of child rape, two counts of causing or inciting sexual activity with a minor, four counts of sexual assault on a child, two counts of exposing a child to sexual acts, three counts of creating indecent images of a child, three counts of photographing a child indecently, along with possession of prohibited and extreme pornographic images.
The 58-year-old, formerly known as residing on Lancaster Drive, Clitheroe, pleaded guilty before Preston Crown Court.
He received an 18-year prison sentence, plus an eight-year extended license period.
