NEIL GAWTHORPE FROM CLITHEROE SENTENCED AFTER POSSESSING OVER 250 INDECENT IMAGES
In May 2021, Neil Gawthorpe, a resident of Tower Hill in Clitheroe, was sentenced after being found with more than 250 indecent images of children, some as young as six.
Gawthorpe, who was 24 when he received a Sexual Offence Prevention Order in 2008 following police discovery of images on his computer, now, aged 37, appeared at Preston Crown Court on May 14 to face further charges.
He pleaded guilty to additional counts of possessing indecent images and breaching the existing order.
The court was told that between August 7, 2019, and January 7, 2020, Gawthorpe possessed 66 Category B indecent images and 187 Category C images of children.
Authorities also found that he had with him a Samsung Note 10 and another mobile phone, which his current order explicitly prohibited.
Gawthorpe was sentenced to 15 months in prison, suspended for two years.
Additionally, he is required to complete 30 days of Rehabilitation Activity Requirements and was issued a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order to restrict his future activities.
