CLITHEROE DAD LAUGHS AS HE ASSAULTS EX AFTER NIGHT OUT
A Clitheroe dad, Karl Moore, 39, was involved in an 'ugly incident' at his home following a night out.According to court reports, Moore laughed as he assaulted his ex-partner.
The incident occurred after Moore and his partner had been out drinking in Whalley on May 13, 2023.
During the evening, Moore became hostile towards police officers after they arrived due to his behaviour.
His partner tried to calm him down, which led to an argument back at their residence.
The prosecutor described how Moore shouted and swore at the victim, told her to leave, and then struck her to the back of the head with a hard slap.
Moore mocked her crying and even knocked her phone out of her hand, stamping on it.
He continued his assault by hitting her on the shoulder and went as far as to put his hands around her neck.
The physical struggle caused them to fall to the floor, with Moore eventually letting go.
The victim managed to leave the house and call the police from her car, where she could be heard being punched by Moore on the call.
When police interviewed Moore, he refused to comment.
At Preston Crown Court, judge Ian Unsworth sentenced Moore to 45 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months.
Additionally, he is required to complete 20 rehabilitation days and 200 hours of community service.
The judge acknowledged that the incident was persistent and highlighted Moore's apparent remorse, noting he was generally a respectable member of the community and a devoted father, with previous partners stating he had no history of violence towards them.
