MICHEAL HARRIS ESCAPES PRISON SENTENCE AFTER SEXUALLY COMMUNICATING WITH A CHILD IN SOUTHAMPTON

Micheal Harris, a manager at a cleaning company based in Bitterne Park, Southampton, has narrowly avoided immediate imprisonment following allegations of engaging in sexual communication with a minor.

The case was heard at Southampton Crown Court, where the details of the communications were scrutinized and brought to light.

The court heard that the inappropriate interactions took place over a span of time, beginning on June 16, 2018, and continuing until August 4, 2018.

During this period, Harris allegedly maintained contact with the child through what was described as sexual communication, a serious offence under the law.

In a sentencing decision that drew significant attention, the court sentenced Harris to six months in prison, but the term was suspended for 24 months.

This means that Harris will not serve time in jail unless he commits another offence within this period.

The court also imposed strict conditions that Harris must adhere to for the next seven years, including the requirement to register under Section 92 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

Furthermore, Harris was mandated to participate in the Horizon programme, a rehabilitative initiative designed to address offending behaviour and prevent reoffending.

He was also instructed to complete all recommended rehabilitation activities, which are to be undertaken over a period of ten days under the supervision of a probation officer.

In addition to the conditional sentence, Harris was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for seven years, a legal requirement intended to monitor his activities and minimize the risk to the community.

As part of the court’s financial sanctions, Harris was ordered to pay a surcharge of £115 to fund victim services, along with prosecution costs amounting to £500.

This case underscores the ongoing efforts of legal authorities in Southampton to address and mitigate crimes involving minors and sexual offences, while also highlighting the importance of rehabilitation and monitoring measures in such cases.
