MICHAEL REDFORD SENTENCED FOR RAPE IN DAGENHAM STREET - 13 YEARS IN PRISON
In a case that has shocked the local community, Michael Redford, a man previously residing in Street and now living in Dagenham, Essex, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being convicted of heinous sexual offenses involving an 11-year-old girl.The court heard that Redford, who has been married four times, was found guilty of multiple charges related to the sexual abuse of the young girl, with the crimes spanning from March 1 to October 31, 2005.
Redford, aged 47, faced a total of five serious charges, including one count of rape, three counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child, and one count of inciting a child to participate in sexual acts.
The gravity of his actions was brought to light when the victim confided in her aunt about a disturbing nightmare involving Redford.
During this conversation, she revealed that he had forced her into bed, a revelation that prompted immediate legal action.
The case was particularly complex, as Redford's initial trial at Taunton Crown Court ended with a deadlock, with the jury unable to reach a verdict.
This resulted in a retrial, during which the young girl was compelled to relive her traumatic experiences.
The court was told that she was hesitant to come forward initially, fearing disbelief and social stigma.
However, her courage grew over time, especially after Redford left the Street area, which allowed her to finally speak out about her ordeal.
Prosecutor James Patrick emphasized that the girl had been reluctant to report the abuse, fearing she would not be believed.
