GLASGOW MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO BRUTAL ATTACK ON GIRLFRIEND
Michael Kelly, aged 41, from Glasgow's Royston area, committed a violent assault on his girlfriend at her flat in Springburn on August 18, 2023.During the incident, Kelly turned aggressive after she asked him to leave due to his drunken state.
He smashed her head against a door frame and then got on top of her, putting his hands around her neck while threatening to kill her.
Kelly also subjected her to physical violence by grabbing her by the hair, throwing her to the floor, and striking her head against a door frame, leading to injuries including wounds to her ear and head.
He further dragged her by the wrist and placed her on a bed before continuing his assault.
He also rubbed her head with force to try to wipe blood away.
The police found her in a distressed state, with blood on her face and injuries to her head and torso, including wounds to her neck and elbow.
Kelly fled the scene but was later traced by officers who recorded him denying threats and claiming he loved her, asserting he did not threaten to kill her.
