MICHAEL HUDSON FROM PRESTON SHOCKS KIRKHAM WITH DECADES OF ABUSE AND RAPE
Michael Hudson, aged 55 and residing in Preston, has been convicted of a series of heinous crimes spanning over a decade, involving the sexual exploitation and abuse of young girls in Kirkham.The court heard that Hudson, who was well-known locally, used his charm and generosity to manipulate vulnerable children, luring them into situations where he could commit his predatory acts.
According to court records, Hudson would dress the young girls in provocative clothing and persuade them to pose for indecent photographs at his home in Kirkham.
One of the victims, now in her 30s or 40s, recounted feeling like Madonna during the grooming process, as Hudson encouraged her to dance and pose for the camera.
These photographs, taken during the late 1980s and early 1990s, were part of his disturbing pattern of grooming and sexual exploitation.
Despite the passage of time, the victims' accounts reveal a pattern of manipulation and abuse that spanned from 1985 to 1997.
The court was told that Hudson would often take the girls on day trips around Preston and other nearby areas, treating them with sweets and pocket money to foster a false sense of trust.
Behind this facade, he was preying on their innocence, using alcohol and drugs such as amyl nitrate, commonly known as poppers, to lower their inhibitions and facilitate sexual activity.
Each of the women described being given pills by Hudson, which he claimed were similar to Ecstasy and would help them relax.
These substances were used as tools to enable Hudson’s sexual assaults, which he carried out with calculated cruelty.
The court heard that he manipulated situations to his advantage, even showing the girls pornography to normalize and desensitize them to sexual activity.
One particularly disturbing incident involved Hudson assaulting one of the girls in an elevator during a trip to a crisp factory where he was employed.
The girl was visiting with a group of children at the time, and the assault took place in a confined space, highlighting the calculated nature of his predatory behavior.
The judge, Mr Justice Fraser, condemned Hudson’s actions, stating that such trips should have been innocent outings for children, not opportunities for abuse.
The impact on the victims has been profound and lasting.
Their victim impact statements painted a harrowing picture of the damage caused by Hudson’s actions.
One victim, who was a teenager during her abuse in the 1980s, expressed feelings of loss and despair, saying, “It feels like my life has never begun and at the same time it feels like it is over.” Another woman, who was between eight and eleven years old when assaulted, shared her ongoing struggles with forming adult relationships and her overprotectiveness of her own children, as a direct result of the trauma she endured.
During sentencing, Mr Justice Fraser emphasized the calculated nature of Hudson’s crimes, noting that he exploited situations where he could take advantage of the girls’ trust and vulnerability.
The judge pointed out that Hudson was a grown man when he committed these offenses, and his actions had caused significant harm to his victims.
Hudson, who resides on Queens Crescent in Kirkham, was given credit for his guilty plea and was sentenced to be placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.
The court’s verdict underscores the severity of his crimes and the lasting impact on those he victimized, highlighting the importance of justice for survivors of such predatory behavior.
