HARLOW MAN JAILED FOR STALKING EX-PARTNER IN HITCHIN
Michael Hampton, aged 32 and a resident of Doulton Close in Harlow, Essex, has received a four-year prison sentence after being found guilty of stalking his former partner.The court was informed that Hampton confessed to two charges: one related to stalking that caused serious alarm, and another for assault by beating.
Hertfordshire Police stated that from July 2023 to January 2024, Hampton engaged in obsessive and intrusive conduct, including spying on his ex-partner more than 600 times.
His surveillance involved hiding a listening device in her home and installing a tracker in her car’s fuse box.
On 17 July 2023, he followed her vehicle, and when she attempted to avoid him, he physically assaulted her, grabbing and pushing her.
During his sentencing at Peterborough Crown Court, Hampton was also given an indefinite restraining order.
Det Insp Samantha Alcock remarked that Hampton’s actions inflicted considerable fear and psychological trauma on his victim and expressed hope that she can now begin to rebuild her life while Hampton serves his sentence.
