MICHAEL GRIGG FROM HATFIELD SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN HERTFORDSHIRE

In December 2020, a disturbing case emerged involving Michael Grigg, a police officer from Hertfordshire, whose actions have been described as a shocking example of predatory behavior. Grigg, aged 34 and formerly residing in Hatfield, was convicted of serious child sex offences that spanned several years.

Grigg was found guilty by a jury on two counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a minor, with the offences occurring between 2007 and 2012. The court proceedings revealed that during this period, he was serving as a cadet leader, a position of authority and trust within the community. The police emphasized that his conduct represented a gross abuse of his official role and responsibilities.

Following his conviction, Grigg was sentenced to a term of six and a half years in prison at Harrow Crown Court. The severity of his crimes has led to additional legal measures, including his placement on the sex offenders' register for life. Furthermore, he is subject to a sexual harm prevention order, which aims to restrict his activities and prevent further harm.

The investigation into Grigg’s conduct was managed by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) and was carried out by Hertfordshire Constabulary’s Safeguarding Command. Authorities confirmed that Grigg’s arrest and subsequent prosecution were part of a comprehensive effort to address and eliminate abuse of power within the police force and to ensure justice for the victims involved.
