GLASGOW MAN JAILED FOR SAVAGE MOTHER-OF-FOUR'S MURDER
Michael Dorey, aged 48, was found guilty of a violent murder that took place in April 2021 in Maryhill, Glasgow. He attacked Jacqueline Grant, a mother of four aged 54, by stabbing her over 30 times in a brutal assault.
Lord Arthurson described the incident as 'brutal and ferocious in both its savagery and scale.' Dorey claimed he did not remember the attack.
Upon admitting guilt to murder, he received a sentence of at least 19 years in prison, a reduction from the original 20 years, as a result of his guilty plea.
The court revealed that Jacqueline Grant died from numerous stab wounds, with 34 wounds documented on her body.
She was discovered by her daughter after efforts to contact her went unanswered.
The prosecution outlined that Dorey was previously involved with Grant’s ex-partner but maintained contact with her family.
On the day of the killing, he visited her flat, discussing plans to build a table for her.
After spending time with her and other family members in a seemingly good mood, he left around 00:50, carrying a rucksack with a towel wrapped around his hand.
When later questioned, he stated he had not seen Ms.
Grant since January 2021 and claimed he had been the victim of an 'unprovoked attack' by an 'unknown person.' However, forensic evidence, including blood and DNA, connected him to the scene of the crime.
