MAX ROBERTS SENTENCED IN PETERBOROUGH FOR VIOLENCE INCLUDING HAMSTER KILLING
Max Roberts, born on June 8, 2006, and residing on Eastfield Road, Peterborough PE1, has been convicted of multiple offences. In 2025, Roberts killed a hamster during a domestic violence incident. He also assaulted his then-girlfriend by elbowing her in the face, punching and kicking her face and body, and attempting to strangle her.Roberts further caused distress by killing one hamster and kicking the cage of a second hamster, which shattered as a result. He told the victim he would "kill everything she loves". Additionally, he forced her to relinquish her mobile phone and keys.
Detective Constable Joshua Crown commented on the case, stating, "Roberts behaved despicably, aiming to inflict the most emotional pain possible by killing the victim’s hamster."
Following the attack, Roberts left the scene and sent a message claiming he would "be back to finish her off," police reported.
Roberts pleaded guilty to charges including intentional strangulation, criminal damage to property, failing to prevent animal cruelty, and causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.
He was also issued a restraining order prohibiting him from contacting the victim or visiting any addresses where she might be present.
He was sentenced to 32 months in a Young Offenders Institution.
