DEVON POLICE OFFICER DISCHARGED JURY IN SEX OFFENCE TRIAL
The jury in the trial of a Devon and Cornwall Police officer accused of sex offences has been discharged and the case has been adjourned until January.
PC Matthew Tregale, 35, who is currently suspended from the force, is accused of multiple sexual offences.
He denies all 14 charges brought against him, which include attempted rape, false imprisonment, and sexual activity with a child.
The judge has ordered an independent review of the evidence to determine whether it is possible for the trial to be resumed with a new jury.
Tregale has been released on bail.
The case remains ongoing, and further updates are expected after the review process and the resumption of the trial in January.
