OFFENDER JAILED FOR TERRIFYING TORTURE AND THREATS OF RAPE AND DEATH
An armed man who tortured a teenager and made him beg for his life after accusing him of sleeping with his girlfriend has been jailed for eight years.
Matthew Ryan, 30, assaulted the 17-year-old boy and threatened him with death and rape during a terrifying attack that lasted around four hours.
Ryan punched the main victim and put him in the boot of the car, saying: "This is what happens when you sleep with my girlfriend." He also claimed responsibility for "bodies in the river in Dewsbury" and stated he had never been caught, adding: "We run this place.
I am the tank.
I am the Grim Reaper." The court heard Ryan and Hepplestone were snorting cocaine during the incident.
Ryan, of Firthcliff Drive in Liversedge, and Hepplestone, of Mount Pleasant in Emley, both pleaded guilty to five counts of false imprisonment, with Ryan additionally pleading guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Ryan has 15 previous convictions, including robbing his father at knifepoint, and was under a suspended sentence at the time of the offences.
Hepplestone also has previous convictions.
The court described Ryan's conduct as cruel, deliberate, and amounting to torture.
Both offenders were sentenced to prison with Ryan receiving eight years and Hepplestone five.
They were also made subject to indefinite restraining orders.
