MATTHEW REDSTALL SENTENCED IN SUFFOLK FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING TEENAGE GIRL
A man from Felixstowe, Suffolk, who engaged in a sexual relationship with a teenage girl, has been sentenced to prison for his crimes.
Matthew Redstall, aged 50, residing on High Road in Felixstowe, was brought before Ipswich Crown Court where he received a two-year prison sentence on Friday.
Redstall pleaded guilty to multiple serious charges, including seven counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity and three counts of possessing indecent images of a child.
The court heard that in 2019, Redstall entered into a relationship with a girl who was only 17 years old at the time, and this relationship eventually turned sexual.
The legal proceedings revealed that Redstall was first arrested in 2021, and subsequent charges were brought against him in 2023.
His guilty plea and the evidence presented in court led to the sentencing, which also included additional measures aimed at public safety and offender management.
In addition to his prison term, the judge ordered Redstall to register as a sex offender, a requirement that will remain in effect for the foreseeable future.
Furthermore, he was issued a sexual harm prevention order that will be in place for ten years, restricting his activities and monitoring his behavior to prevent further offenses.
Detective Constable Laura Frelford, from the Suffolk Police’s Safeguarding Investigation Unit, commented on the case, stating, “I hope the outcome of this case reassures members of the public that we take such allegations of predatory behaviour extremely seriously and we work to safeguard victims as quickly as possible.
We will do everything in our power to bring offenders to justice.”
