MATTHEW LITTLEFIELD SENTENCED FOR VIOLENT ATTACK IN BEVERLEY
In June 2022, a man from Beverley was handed a significant prison sentence after being convicted of a brutal assault on a woman.Matthew Littlefield, who resides on Highfield Road in Beverley, was found guilty of attacking a woman as she was walking home along Hull Bridge Road on October 16 of the previous year.
The incident involved a serious assault that left the victim in distress and required legal intervention.
Littlefield faced charges of section 20 GBH Assault, with the added allegation of intending to commit a sexual offence during the attack.
Despite his plea of not guilty, the court found sufficient evidence to convict him of the charges.
The case was heard at Hull Crown Court, where the verdict was delivered on June 29.
The court sentenced Littlefield to seven years in prison, with the stipulation that he must serve at least two-thirds of this term before being eligible for parole.
This means he will spend a minimum of approximately four years and eight months behind bars.
Furthermore, upon his eventual release, Littlefield will be subject to an additional three years on licence, ensuring ongoing supervision and restrictions to prevent further offences.
The sentencing reflects the severity of the assault and the court’s stance on protecting the community from such violent acts.
