MATTHEW BIRCH JAILED IN GLASGOW FOR ABUSING YOUNG GIRLS IN NORTH LANARKSHIRE AND FIFE
A music teacher who engaged in a campaign of grooming, abuse, and sexual assault against young girls has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.
Matthew Birch, 45, who previously worked at secondary schools in North Lanarkshire and Fife, was reportedly of the view that adolescent girls were suitable targets.
During his time in education, he assaulted his victims while in positions of trust.
Birch, a former police officer residing in Edinburgh, was convicted in December on nine charges, including rape and sexual activity while in a position of authority, spanning from 2006 to 2017.
