TUBE PERVERT HANDED SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR HIDDEN CAMERA VOYEURISM
A Tube pervert has been handed a suspended sentence after using a homemade camera hidden in a glasses case to film up the skirts of 34 women.
Martin Seaman roamed the Underground system, placing his camera between women's legs to snap the footage.
The 55-year-old, of Rectory Road, Dagenham, was caught by undercover police who observed him acting suspiciously on the Piccadilly Line.
Officers noticed that each time he boarded a train, he followed women wearing short skirts or dresses.
When they followed him onto a train, they saw him sliding his rucksack with a camera sticking out between a victim's legs.
Upon arrest, officers discovered he had made the camera himself using a phone battery and a glasses case.
After downloading the contents, they found a collection of 17 videos showing upskirt footage of 34 women.
Seaman had previously been banned from traveling on the Underground with a camera.
Last Wednesday at Blackfriars Crown Court, he was sentenced to eight months in prison for breaching the order, with an additional eight months for outraging public decency, both suspended for two years.
Officer in charge, PC Graham Evans, stated: 'This man clearly set out with an aim to use his own homemade device that he had created for this vile purpose to pry on women in an extremely intrusive way.' Siwan Hayward, TfL’s Head of Transport Policing, emphasized that no one should experience unwanted sexual behavior and praised the police for their efforts in catching and convicting Seaman.
