AIRDRIE RAPIST WHO ATTACKED WOMAN AND TRIED TO MURDER HER DIES IN CUSTODY
Martin Myles, aged 42, was convicted of raping and attacking a woman between November 2018 and April 2020.
He was sentenced to 15 years in prison after attempting to murder his victim during the assault, which involved sexual violence and a life-threatening attack.
Despite her pleas for medical help, Myles continued his assault and repeatedly kicked her, which caused her significant pain and suffering.
He denied multiple charges but was found guilty of four offences: behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards his victim, assaulting the woman, raping her, and the rape and attempted murder of her.
He died in custody at HMP Barlinnie on February 14, 2025.
The Scottish Prison Service confirmed his death, and a Fatal Accident Inquiry has been scheduled in accordance with standard procedure.
A police investigation was also initiated, and the matter has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
