BOURNEMOUTH MAN JAILED FOR HEADBUTT ATTACK ON PARTNER
A man with a "distorted view of domestic violence" headbutted his on-off partner and grabbed her by the face during an assault in her own home.The victim managed to escape by spraying furniture polish in his face, then fled to the bathroom and locked the door.
Bournemouth Crown Court heard she suffered bruises and scratches to her leg, face, and arm.
Martin David Allan, aged 34, admitted to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and failing to surrender to custody after being released on bail.
He appeared in court on July 13.
The judge, William Mousley KC, described Allan as having a "distorted view of domestic violence" based on his life experience.
Allan had 35 previous convictions for 51 offences, including 13 against the person.
The defendant, previously of Stone Gardens, Bournemouth, failed to attend court on his trial date in April before later pleading guilty.
He was sentenced to 23 months in jail.
The court noted that the woman felt unsafe at home and had moved out, expressing her feelings of being "used" and tired of being "Martin’s punch bag".
